CELEBRATION

It has been a really great month filled with one celebration after the other.  We started with the celebration of our Independence as a nation.  Most of our churches had special celebrations for the 4th of July.

We celebrated homecoming services at Mt Moriah, New Home, Jackson’s and Pleasant Hill churches. Each one of the services was different but each was a service designed to look back at the wonderful history of the churches and look forward to a great future.

We also had some really fantastic services with our VBS ministries.  Mt Moriah, New Home, Union Hill, Pleasant Plains, Riddleville, New Bethel, Pleasant Grove, Bay Springs and others did a tremendous job with the children and adults at VBS.

It is just great to see Christians celebrate!  We really do have a lot to be thankful for.

A Good Thing

Just this morning, I had a young man that was bringing the Party Trailer back  say, “This was a very good thing the Association did.”  When we voted to buy the trailer and the inflatables we had some idea of how it would be used but it has been even better than we thought.

We are very glad that it is being used so much and for so many different things.  It has been used for special days at VBS, for community outreach, for special days at churches and for Back to School Bashes.

Sometimes there were a lot of children there to use them and sometimes there were just a few, but fun was had by all! It is good that we have them so that all can use them, no matter what size church.

Our goal is to see our churches enjoy them but to also see them used to reach the young people in our communities that do not go to church.  We are beginning to hear just such reports.

    Keep up the good work.

Tell Your Story

I had the great honor of baptizing a young lady this past Sunday.  When I talked with her before the baptism she was so happy because she had been able to tell her friends about asking Jesus to come into her life.  She was simply telling her story.

As we mature in our faith, we know that we need to share our story but sharing isn’t easy for most.  We are afraid that we don’t know enough to share or that people will laugh at us.  As a result, most Christians never get the joy of seeing another person come to Jesus Christ.

I am not a theologian, nor do I have the gift of evangelism, but I have found some simple ways to tell my story and God has blessed in a wonderful way. I hope that you will find some of these simple suggestions helpful.

            (1) PRAY for someone you know that isn’t saved.  Every one of us knows someone that doesn’t know Jesus as their savior.  It may be a family member, a friend or a co-worker that you want to pray for.  Put the person’s name on a small card and begin to pray for them every day.  You may even want to share it with your church.

            (2) PRACTICE writing or saying how Jesus came into your life and how He has made a difference.  We want to be ready with our story when we get the opportunity to share.  The Bible tells us to be ready to share the hope that is within us.  (1 Peter 3:15)

            (3) INVITE your friend or friends to your Sunday School class.  This is usually a small group of people that are friendly and will welcome your friend.  They may have the wrong idea of what a Christian is and you can open up a small door to tell them what being a Christian means to you.

            (4) SHARE, you will be blessed!

Christmas Backpacks

Share the gift of LOVE and the GOSPEL with a child in need this Christmas

We will be collecting Backpacks again this year.  You were tremendous last year and I know you will be again this year.

We will be doing Backpacks locally and with the Georgia Baptist Mission Board.  I will have more information as we work out the details.
