Mount Vernon Baptist Association

January 2017

Christmas is for giving and Mount Vernon Baptist Association churches really did a tremendous job.  Several of our churches filled the Shoe Boxes for children all over the world.  Several hundred children received gifts because of your generosity.  Two churches, Jacksons & Harrison, came together and packed 35 backpacks for children in Kentucky and delivered them, along with 100 blankets, for Christmas.  Pleasant Grove and New Bethel packed and delivered 71 backpacks and food packs to families in Blue Ridge, GA and were able to share Christ with them and see three come to Christ.  Mt. Moriah, New Home, Rehoboth, Union and Sisters on Mission came together to provide 84 bags to children in our local schools.

May they have a long and prosperous ministry that will see many lives changes for the Lord.

Happy New Year

We really don’t know what 2017 has in store for us.  I have read several thoughts from others and they go in many different directions.  I do know one thing for sure and that is “God is in Control”.

I believe it can be a time of Revival for  God’s people.  We have seen a big shift in attitudes over the past years away from Christian values which have led to a lot of violence and a sense of unrest.  I believe that people are beginning to see the need to return to God.

We as the church need to take this opportunity to reach out to those that are hurting and confused and share the love of Christ with them.

Happy New Year. May it be a great one for you, your family and your church.

                                           Bro. Bill

Christmas Programs were great!

Cindy and I had the privilege of attending several of our Christmas programs and they were wonderful! The music from the choirs and the drama from the young people were a special way of presenting the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.

I noticed that there were always visitors there for the presentations.  It got me to thinking about how much we want people to hear or see our Christmas programs so we invite them to come.

We all have fun!  Why don’t we do this on every Sunday?  Let’s celebrate Jesus!

Youth for Christ

Several of the youth from our churches went to the MOVE Conference in Macon and had a wonderful time.

This conference has changed it’s name over the years but has always been a place for young people to celebrate their faith with thousands of others from across Georgia.  It has also been a place many are saved and many come closer to Christ.

Oh yeah---

dults can come also!

Looking Ahead to Easter

The MVBA is having a special Easter Choir this year.  We had such a great time with the Christmas musical we want to do it for Easter.

Please contact Mrs. Sharon Ivey for all the details on practice and the choir.  You can reach her at 478-864-2781 or 232-8522.

The  musical presentation will be on April 9th at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. There will be a fellowship after.  I will get more details as the time grows nearer.
