SUMMER EVALUATION

The summer months are here and it is a great time to look at our church ministry.  We can start by looking at the Sunday morning service.  This is the time when most of your people are present and when visitors may wish to visit your church.

Ask yourself the question, “How does our building look?”  I am not talking about the age or style of the building. I am referring to if it is as clean as we would like it.  Sometimes we don’t see things after a while.  We should look and make sure the corners can be seen.  When we start piling a little bit here, just for now, it begins to build up fast.  We don’t notice, it but others sure do.

Another good question is, “Are we ready to welcome anyone into our church.”  A study of people visiting churches in this area tells us most churches aren’t.  Even some of our members say that we are not very friendly.  It only takes a second to put a smile on your face and greet people.

You may not know this but the summer months are the very best time to attract new people to your church.  The kids are out of school and looking for something to do.  It is a great time for some summer activities.  Adults are free from the kid’s school activities and have more free time.  It is just a good time to think about reaching out to new people.

The summer months are a good time to look at the ministries of your church and see what you can do to get more involved.

Vacation Bible School

VBS time is here!  If you are having a Vacation Bible School, please let us know the dates and times.  We love to come and see the beautiful work you have done.  We also love to be able to pray for your VBS.

VBS is still the largest outreach effort of most churches across our nation.  It is also the time when more people make professions of faith in Jesus Christ than any other single time.

After it is over, let us know how your VBS went.  We have a form that we need to fill out for the Georgia Baptist Mission Board.

SOUTHERN BAPTIST CONVENTION

June 14-15

With 11,581 people, of which 7,321 were registered messengers, the Southern Baptist Convention met in St. Louis, June 13-14th. There were many messengers this year than last.

The convention took two major directions.  One was a call for national revival.  The newly elected officers were all together on the need for revival in our nation.

The convention also called for racial unity in our nation and convention.  Representatives from the National Baptist Convention, the State elected officials and the Southern Baptist Convention came together for prayer for unity.

Dr. Steve Gains, Pastor of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis was elected Convention President.

Crossover St. Louis, a door to door visitation, saw 556 professions of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
