Week of Prayer and Lottie Moon Christmas Offering

I was at Mount Moriah last night for the Christmas Play and ran into Lottie Moon herself.  The church has a great way of promoting the week of prayer and the Lottie Moon Offering.  They have a life size cut-out of a woman with Lottie Moon’s face.  It is placed in a prominent place in the church and promotes the Offering.

The reports from this past week have just been fantastic.  I have heard of great offerings and of tremendous times of prayer.  I hope that you and your church are looking toward helping spread the Gospel to the world.

Matthew 28:19

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world.

From Brother Bill:

I just wanted to thank you for all the prayers and all the love that was shown to Cindy and me during my recent surgery.  You went above and beyond what anyone would have expected.

Looking back, it was quite a shock to me when the doctors told me I had to have heart surgery.  I didn’t have any of the symptoms that was associated with heart problems; I really felt good.  It only goes to show that things can happen really fast and unexpected.

October was a month of doing nothing except what the doctor said.  I thank you for your support through those times.  I told one pastor friend that visited in the hospital that it was much better on the pastor side than the patient side.  I think that I have become more aware and a little more caring about people and their problems.

Thanks again for all your prayers – Keep them coming.

                                    Bro. Bill

The Georgia Baptist Convention had it’s annual meeting at Roswell Street Baptist Church on November 9 – 10.  Dr. White and the Convention addressed many issues and overall it was a good meeting.

Dr. White announced that the Backpacks for Appalachia was a tremendous success.  It was better than they had expected.

Rev. Thomas Hammond, Pastor of First Baptist Alpharetta, was elected that new President.

Night of Prayer

A better prayer life is one of our never ending goals.  As an association we want to try and help our pastors and leaders in this quest.

On November 17 we had a Night of Prayer at the Associational Office that was really good.  I feel that we came away from the meeting with a closeness as leaders that we really need.

Brother Mark Mirza led the meeting and will be in some of our churches on later dates.  It will benefit all of us to attend when we can.

Caring Cards

The young people of our Association, and all others that would like to help, will be meeting on Saturday, December 12 @ 11am at the Associational Office to make goodie bags and to sign cards for the people in nursing homes in our area.

There will be a lunch provided.  We hope that this can be one way to say Merry Christmas to folks in our community.
